Coaching Requirements

Notice to All PYHA Coaches

All coaches MUST be registered with USA Hockey (USAH) in order to be placed on the roster or be on the ice!  This is not the number on your coaching card.  Once you register with USAH, please submit your USAH number to:

Deb Straker - PYHA Registrar - d.straker@comcast.net

PYHA will reimburse each coach the registration fee for the season.  PYHA will NOT be able to officially certify any roster with the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) without this information.  Please click link below for direct access to the USA Hockey (USAH) website.

In order to streamline the coach’s repayments the following guidelines will be utilized starting this season.

All Coach’s must be :

  1. Registered with USA Hockey before stepping on the ice. Confirmation Number must be submitted to Registrar.
  2. Be Screened or in process of completing screening. Failure to complete will result in charge for cost of screening package.
  3. Have the proper CEP Level per AHAI/USA Hockey guidelines.
  4. Have the appropriate Age Module for each team being coached completed by the USA Hockey yearly deadline.

This will all be verified through the Compliance Committee and approval to pay any associated fees will come from the Committee Chair. Only after all is verified, will the registrar issue a refund check. Failure to comply will result in no refunds by PYHA and immediate suspension of coaching privileges.

Coaches On-Ice Session and Meeting: TBD

Jean Guy Trudel, PYHA Hockey Director, will be reviewing the USA Hockey (USAH) American Development Model (ADM) program.  The date and time of this session has yet to be finalized.  Please check back frequently and look for updates to the PYHA calendar for confirmation of the date and time for this session.

Online Age Specific Modules

USA Hockey is pleased to announce that the online age-specific modules will be available beginning at 9 am (MDT) Monday, September 16, 2013.  All modules MUST be completed by December 31, 2013.  You will need to complete the module(s) for the age level(s) of play that you are currently coaching. You do not need to retake a module if you completed it last season. If you are coaching multiple age levels then you will need to complete the module for each age group.

The information in the modules will be available until April 30, 2014, but you must pass all chapters by December 31, 2013, to meet the Coaching Education Program requirement.  Also as a reminder, if your certification level is expired, or expiring on December 31, 2013, you must attend a clinic or recertify your Level 3 by December 31, 2013.

Thank you for all that you do for youth hockey and good luck this season.
