Concussion Management Program

Baseline Concussion Testing for 2016-2017

UPDATE 9-10-2016: On Wednesday September 14 from 5 to 7pm in the back room at the Peoria Owens Center; PYHA will have another concussion testing session to allow any remaining travel players to get tested before the season and practices get going to far.

House League Players that haven't been tested will still have another opportunity or two coming up to be tested; once those dates are locked in they will be communicated.

UPDATE 8-11-2016: Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, the concussion testing that would have been on Monday 8-15 has been moved to Thursday 8-18.

Updated Baseline concussion testing schedule:
 - Tuesday August 16 from 4pm to 6:30pm : Squirt, Bantam
 - Wednesday August 17 from 4pm to 7:30pm : Mite, PeeWee, Midget,
 - Thursday August 18 from 4pm to 7:00pm : Mite, PeeWee, Midget and Overflow from previous nights

We will be utilizing the SCAT3 baseline testing for ALL players Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam, and Midgets.  We would like to have all travel and house players at these levels tested prior to the season starting.  This is a FREE screening for all PYHA skaters.  This information will be utilized in case of a head injury during the season.  Greg Eberle, ACT will be conducting the testing.  A parent will need to be present to sign the consent form.  We encourage everyone to undergo this testing.  This is a yearly screening so those that have been screened in the past, will need to repeat this.

We are looking for any parents to volunteer to help during this process.  Please contact Jane Kalmes at JKalmes@pyha.org if interested.  No experience is necessary.

PYHA is proud to once again partner with Greg Eberle, Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at the Hopedale Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Center within the Hopedale Medical Complex, to offer ImPACT Baseline Testing to House and Travel players within PYHA.

Check out the informational video below, as well as the attached documents, which will assist parents, players and coaches in recognizing when a player may have been concussed.
